Boston Pizza is Canada's #1 casual dining brand, combining a sports bar and a family-first dining room into one great restaurant serving their signature recipe pizzas and comfort food. They are a franchise only company, with over 395 locations in Canada and hundreds more in China, Mexico, and under the name "Boston's" in the United States. Jim purchased the first franchise location in Penticton B.C. in 1968, and eventually purchased the business in 1983 and sold all of his franchises. Jim has always put people first while building Boston Pizza, from his first partner George Melville, to the starting of the Boston Pizza Foundation in 1990 Jim knows a great business concept can't succeed without great people behind it. Boston Pizza is a Platinum member of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies and has been on the list every year since 1994. In 2014 they broke $1 billion in sales and are still going strong.
The Mr. Lube company is owned by T&M Management, the company owned by Mr. Treliving that also oversees Boston Pizza. Although Jim does not sit on the board of directors for Mr. Lube it was his belief in the entrepreneurs behind it that led him to acquire the company. Jim knows that he can trust the board of directors, and leaves the running of the business to them. He's done well with that strategy, growing to over 180 franchised locations and growing to become the largest quick oil chain in Canada.
The Boston Pizza Foundation has provided kids in need with a role model for 30 years. With the help of their guests they have raised over $30 million to directly help kids through their 5 charity partners including Kids Help Phone and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Jim Treviling is directly involved with the foundation, sitting on the board and helping to decide the direction of the foundation and what the money is used for.
Although Jim lives in the United States, he has fallen in love with the natural beauty of the Okanagan in B.C. and believes in honest and open housing development. He has a large investment in the company and sits on the board.
Jim is the Owner of Kitchen Partners Limited, a company that provides soup and sauces to restaurants, to maintain consistency, freshness and quality, something that most suppliers are willing to sacrifice. Their customer focused ideas stemmed from Boston Pizzas need for unifying flavours across all franchises, and Kitchen Partners Limited supplies all canadian Boston Pizza Restaurants.
